KIAMBU,Kenya, June 19 – Details into the suspicious disappearance of security expert Mwenda Mbijiwe now reveal that a day after he was reported missing on June 12, 2021, the vehicle he had hired was recovered at a coffee farm in Tatu city, Kiambu county.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the vehicle was found by the owner, Edward Mwangi, whom Mbjiwe hired the vehicle from, for a period of 3 weeks before a missing persons report was filed at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.

Mwangi told police that he had tracked the vehicle’s location to Thika and decided to visit the area since attempts to reach Mbijiwe on phone proved futile.

The vehicle, a Toyota Fielder registration number, KCN 614K was found in a coffee plantation in Tatu City ,vandalized and the doors ajar. The vehicles’s key was however missing.

Personal belongings of Mbijiwe were however not recovered in the vehicle.

Mwangi reported the matter to police and was subsequently allowed to repossess his vehicle.

Mbijiwe was reported missing on June 17,2021.

“A concerned relative had initially reported him missing at Kasarani Police station and later in Central Police Station by Mbijiwe’s mother who traveled from Meru concerned of his safety.” said Mbijiwe’s sister Tamara Mbijiwe.

Shahidi News has learnt that Mwangi is expected to record a statement at the Central Police Station.

Another person, close to Mbijiwe has also recorded a statement while another is expected to record a statement next week on Monday.

Prior to his disappearance, Mbjiwe was traveling upcountry to Meru where he had told loved ones he was visiting his ailing mother.

The day he was supposed to surrender the hired vehicle Mbjiwe had expressed interest in prolonging his initial agreement according to Mwangi, the owner of the hired car.

The vehicle’s GPS revealed it was in Kasarani and later in Kahawa West on June 12,2021.

“His phone has never been switched for this long,” a concerned friend who sought anonymity told Shahidi News.

A search for the KDF soldier cum- security expert and trainer is ongoing.
