LAMU, Kenya, Jun 21- A family in Lamu is in distress, after their kin was abducted right in front of them.
The incident according to family members who spoke to Shahidi News occurred along Lamu-Mpeketoni road on Saturday evening.
Since then, the whereabouts and fate of Yasir Mahmoud Ahmed remains a puzzle.
A family member who sought anonymity said, “he was ordered out of the car by armed men. We highly suspect they were security officers.”
The family is calling on the government to move with speed and help them locate Ahmed.
Efforts to trace him has proven futile, even after visiting all police stations within the County.
Where is Ahmed? Is he safe? Who were the men who abducted him?
These are the questions the family is seeking answers to.
It is an incident that has reawakened bad memories for locals, who have in the past encountered similar incidents, coupled with torture and killings.
The country is also witnessing a worrying wave of kidnappings and cases of enforced disappearances.
