NYANDARUA, Kenya, Jun 24- A medical student has gone missing, after she jumped out of a public service vehicle and went hiding into a nearby forest.

The student had boarded a 14 seater matatu heading to Nakuru from Nyeri but suddenly became uneasy and eventually violent according to witnesses.

“She just wanted to alight and go, but we did not know where,” the driver of the vehicle Duba Abdullah told Shahidi News.

The lady first wanted to alight the car at Kiawara area.

“She behaved as if she was not mentally fit,” the driver said.

The driver who ignored her demands proceeded with the journey, until they reached an area identified as Equator, Gwa Kungu.

“By this point, the girl was extremely violent and wanted to alight. She could not listen to my pleas or those of other passengers. We really wanted to help,” he said.

All of a sudden, the girl opened the window and escaped towards Ndaragwa forest.

The incident was reported at Nyandarua police station.

Efforts by police to trace the 23 year-old student proved futile on Thursday, when the incident occurred.

The girl, who was destined for Nakuru, left all her personal belongings, including a purse containing Sh2,500.

She is a medical student at Kenya Medical Training College in Nyeri.
