NYERI, Kenya, Jun 29- A Nyeri based businessman identified as Gerald Guandaru was on Tuesday abducted, in yet another shocking incident in the country.
His wife Cecilia Wamaitha said the abductors were ‘bold’ and did not fear the people who witnessed the incident.
It happened just a few metres from his barbershop, at around 5pm.
“They were all men,” she said.
At the time when the four men forcefully forced him into their waiting car, he was at the garage.
“They removed him from his car and forced him into their waiting vehicle. I am very worried for his safety,” she said.
“My husband spent the day at a garage then at around 5pm when he picked it up, he was in the process of parking it when four men surrounded him and removed him from his car.”
His phone has since been switched off.
Already, the incident has been reported to police in Nyeri.
“We are trying to locate the businessman, even as we try to establish those behind his abduction,” Nyeri County Police Commander Adiel Nyange said.
Lately, cases of abductions and enforced disappearances have been on the rise across the country.
In some cases, victims including children have been killed.
The police headquarters is yet to speak about the worrying trend, that comes at a time when the country is gearing towards an electioneering period.
