MANDERA, Kenya, Jul 21-A skyward flight from Nairobi has crash landed in a military base in Somalia, officials who spoke to Shahidi News said.
The flight was carrying 30 passengers but it is not yet clear whether they sustained injuries.
“We have escaped death by a whisker…” a passenger who sought anonymity told Shahidi News.
The plane crash landed at Burahache military camp in Elwak, in Gedo region of Somalia.
It is located some 15 kilometres from the Kenya-Somalia border.
“The plane registration number is 57-grs DAC Aviation International De Havilland Canada DHC-8-100,” an aviation official said.
It had departed from Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Wednesday morning. It was destined for Mandera County.
Investigations are underway, in a bid to establish what led to the incident.
The plane was damaged in the incident according to authorities from the Somalia National Army (SNA).
