KISII, Kenya, Aug 11- A man and his wife burnt to death at Bomesichi village, Bobasi constituency in Kisii County were assaulted before their house was set ablaze by arsonists.
A postmortem examination report done on the bodies of the couple which was burnt in their house indicated that the man had a blood clot on the back of his head and back injuries.
Government chief pathologist Johansen Oduor released the report to the family members on Tuesday.
According to the report, Moruri Mogoha’s body had blood clots on the back of his head, multiple fractures in his back and also carbon monoxide in the soft tissues. His body was found lying facing down.
According to the autopsy report, his wife Florence Magoa might have died due to suffocation from the burning house.
“Further testing will be done on the samples taken and we will release the report to the family,” said Odour.
The bodies of the two were found with severe burn injuries after fire broke out in their house in unclear circumstances.
Police had earlier said they were investigating arson as the cause of death, but with the report out, the scope of investigations will change.
Their son, Robinson Nyabuto said the report showed his mother died of fire while more tests were to be done to ascertain how the father died during the inferno.
Another son Alphano said they are satisfied with the report from the government pathologist and dismissed the police report which indicated the fire broke out after a gas cylinder caught blast.
“We call upon the police officers to investigate and arrest the suspects who were involved in the death of my parents,” said Alphano.
“Our father was lying on his back. We want to know who hit him with the object before he and our mother were burnt.”
