BUSIA,Kenya, Sep, 13 – Police in Busia county are investigating the murder of a Nurse whose body was recovered with knife wounds at her home in Airstrip estate.
Residents told police that the attack occurred at around 11am Sunday, when armed assailants stormed her house.
The deceased, identified as 50 year old Anne Achieng, worked at the Busia Referral Hospital. She had just arrived back into the country from Tanzania where she had been for a week.
According to preliminary reports, the attackers used a kitchen knife from her house to stab her several times.
“I went to her house…tried calling her but when I got closer I saw her in a pool of blood. I fainted as a result of the shock and when I finally regained consciousness I screamed and called for help,” said Selyne Okinda, deceased relative.
They are also reported to have made away with electronics at the deceased’s home during the mid morning incident.
“A similar incident occurred at Border palace area and up to this date we never found out who was involved,” said Francis Musis, resident Busia.
Neighbours have expressed concern over the matter calling on police to beef up security in the area.
