NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 23- Residents of Eastleigh in Nairobi were on Thursday fear-stricken after an unknown person left a note warning of an explosion at a famous mall in the populous business hub.
According to locals and police, the said incident was to happen within Yare Towers.
This prompted officers from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) to move in with speed with bomb detectors and sniffer dogs, to comb the area.
“We looked for grenades or any improvised explosive devices but there was none.”
Kamukunji Deputy county commissioner Samuel Kariuki said, “Our (ATPU) officers searched the whole building and found nothing so it was a hoax. But we commend the wananchi for being alert and we encourage them to do what the caretaker did so that action can be taken immediately like it happened today.”
Investigations have been launched to establish who left the leaflet and their motive.
The building has a hotel and other business entities.
