BARINGO,Kenya, Oct, 16 – A multi-agency security team is scrambling to restore peace and security in Arabal area of Baringo South days after suspected bandits killed two people.
According to preliminary reports on Thursday evening, 20 residents in Arabal area had embarked on a security mission to patrol their community which has fallen victim to incessant banditry attacks.
During the fateful day, the 20 unarmed people were ambushed by the assailants who shot at them indiscriminately killing two.
18 others managed to flee for their lives despite the night being characterised by terror.
Area police who confirmed the incident had a tough time retrieving the deceased’s bodies which were strewn in the scene of crime for at least a day.
An operation to flush out the AK-47 wielding bandits is ongoing,
The bandits are meanwhile said to have fled to the Ngelecha hills after being flushed out of Laikipia county.
The incident came just two weeks after the unknown assailants raided Lamaiwe village in Mochongoi driving away with hundreds of livestock.
Area leaders have condemned the incident calling on the government to end the perennial attacks once and for all.
