KISUMU,Kenya, Oct, 30 – A noble attempt by a man in Kisumu county to rescue his father from a swarm of bees turned tragic after he was stung to death by the insects.
According to preliminary reports, the deceased, Washington Olielo, died on the spot as he was trying to assist his 85 year old father, Paulus Achieng, who was basking in the sun just outside his home in Kalulu village.
“The deceased rushed to his father and covered him with a blanket,” said a witnesses.
According to area chief Tobias Omollo, the incident came as a shock to area residents since it could not immediately be established whether there was a hive nearby or at the property.
“We heard loud screams but could not do anything to stop the vicious insects since they were all over the place. We are shocked the attack has resulted into a fatality” said Victor Onyango, a resident.
The deceased’s father was also rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
