NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 1- One student remains in critical condition, following Sunday evening’s fire incident at Buruburu Girls, Nairobi.
The school and police say the student inhaled smoke and jumped out of the second floor of their dormitory as the students escaped from the fire.
At least 59 students were taken to hospital following the incident that broke out at about 5 pm.
Some 30 of them were treated and discharged in the night.
Officials say they are concerned with the trend of fire incidents in the country.
A video on social media revealed shocking scenes of students jumping from the third floor of the dormitory in a bid to save their lives.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
On Sunday, evening a similar fire incident was reported in Chavakali High School in Vihiga County.
More than ten schools have been affected by fire in the past week alone in a worrying trend.
