NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 19- Flamboyant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi will have to undergo an ethics and integrity test before continuing with his campaigns.
This follows a consent filed at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal entered into between the Orange Democratic Movement Party ODM and Cathy Irungu, an ODM life member who had filed a complaint against the party.
According to the complaint filed earlier this month, Cathy Irungu had complained that ODM had an obligation to ensure that Jimmy Wanjigi met the standards required by Chapter 6 of the Constitution which lays out the principles of leadership and integrity.
She told the tribunal to order ODM to investigate and also conduct a test to verify the moral standing of Jimmy Wanjigi as he had been “adversely mentioned with regard to his moral fitness and ethical ethos “.
She said the test must be done before ODM allows Wanjigi to present himself to the “unsuspecting public as a person who qualified to be president of Kenya.”
Wanjigi is seeking to vie of the presidency on ODM ticket, just like the former Prime Minister- who is a leading presidential candidate in the country.
