NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 26- Football Kenya Federation Nick Mwendwa was Friday re-arrested over an ongoing probe into claims of corruption at the agency.
Mwendwa was driving along Kiambu Road to the city center when his car was blocked before being arrested and taken to and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters.
One of his lawyers Prof Tom Ojienda arrived there moments after the news of his arrest went out.
Police at DCI headquarters said their probe was ongoing and added there was a miscommunication that led to his release on Thursday.
FKF CEO Barry Otieno confirmed the embattled FKF boss was re-arrested by detectives just a day after the state dropped corruption charges against him.
Mwendwa was initially arrested on November 12 and spent a weekend behind bars before being released on a bail of Sh4 million as investigations continued.
Nairobi magistrate Wandia Nyamu dismissed the application after prosecutors, who had applied for seven days to enable them to conduct investigations, sought to close the file against him.
“I, therefore, order this matter closed,” Nyamu said, ordering Mwendwa be refunded his bail payment.
