NAIROBI,Kenya, Dec,1 – Augustine Wanyonyi was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts and charged with stealing two bibles from a supermarket shelf in Nairobi county.
Appearing before Chief magistrate Wendy Mucheni, the accused is on November,29,2021 said to have stolen the bible worth Sh 1,840 from a Naivas branch supermarket domiciled at Development House along Moi Avenue.
Wanyonyi is said to have masqueraded as a customer before committing the theft. He allegedly attempted to bypass the cashier hiding the bible inside his jacket.
“He picked two revised Standard Bibles valued at Ksh920 each totalling to Ksh 1840″read part of the court report.
Security personnel at the supermarket raised alarm after noticing the accused was acting suspiciously before leaving the establishment.
He was shortly after taken to the Central police station after a thorough search by the security detail at the supermarket.
Wanyonyi pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh20,000 cash bail with a alternative bond of a similar amount.
