NYANDARUA, Kenya, Dec 10 – Police constables Luka Kiragu and Morris Muthui have been declared mentally stable to stand trial six months after being accused of killing 35-year old Daniel Emoji.
The incident is said to have occurred on June 22, 2021, in Tulaga center in Kinangop.
The court had initially recommended they undergo a psychiatric test to determine whether they are fit to stand trial.
Appearing before Naivasha Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Mburu the two were deemed mentally fit after undergoing the tests at Gilgil sub-county hospital.
According to preliminary reports, the suspects were involved in an altercation outside a bar with the deceased and later killed him before dumping his body along the Njabini-Engineer road.
A postmortem examination revealed stab wounds on the deceased’s chest.
“After investigations, all fingers pointed to the two officers for killing the deceased and they will now be charged with murder next week,” said one of the investigators.
The two have since been remanded to the Naivasha GK prison.
They are now set to take plea on December,14,2021.
