NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 6 – Abdulahi Ali was presented before Resident magistrate William Tulel at the Kibera Law Courts Tuesday where he stood accused of attempted murder.
The suspect was however not charged with the court revealing that the presiding magistrate on duty was a junior magistrate who lacked jurisdiction to preside over the case.
According to court documents, the accused is alleged to have slit a reveller’s throat using a piece of broken glass.
The incident occurred at an entertainment joint in Kilimani area of Nairobi on December, 27,2021.
The suspect, through his law lawyer, Mohammed Jelle filed an application seeking to have the case transferred to the Mililani law Courts but it was denied by the presiding magistrate.
The lawyer wanted his client charged so that he could possibly avoid being detained by police.
The victim, Muriiki Muriuki, a Canadian national was admitted at the ICU at a local hospital and later discharged on January,1,2022.
Abdullah will remain in police custody until January 10.
