NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 8 – Simon Ramadhan Kamau was Friday arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts and charged with assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest.
According to court documents, the accused who was presented before resident magistrate William Tullel, is said to have assaulted inspector Danny Ekeno of Gatina police post in Kawangware, Nairobi.
The incident occurred on January, 5,2022.
Upon his arrest,Kamau was also charged with possession of 200 grams of bhang worth Sh 3000 following a routine search.
The officer told the court that police had received a tip-off that the accused was peddling drugs in the area.
Kamau is said to have been questioned after the police introduced themselves …he however became violent after establishing their identities.
Preliminary reports indicate that he shortly after took a blunt object and hit inspector Ekeno on the hand.
He was shortly after subdued and taken to the Muthangari police station.
He pleaded not guilty and was released on a cash bail of Sh40,000 and an alternative bond of Sh100,000.
The case will be mentioned on January 25,2022.
