KISUMU,Kenya, Jan, 10 – Nelson Opiyo was Monday arraigned at the Kisumu Law Courts and charged with defilement of a minor. The incident, court documents revealed occurred on January,6,2022.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Joan Wambilyianga, the accused was charged with the offence contrary to section 8(1) (3) of the sexual offences act No 3 of 2006.
The accused is said to have committed the indecent act at Delta area of Nyalenda B slums within Kisumu county.
H e was subsequently also charged with commiting an indecent act with a child contrary to section 11(1) of the sexual offences act No 3 of 2006.
The prosecution has so far lined up eight witnesses to testify against the accused.
Opiyo pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on a Sh 150,000 bond.
The case will be mentioned on January,24 and heard on February 22,2022.
