BOMET, Kenya, Jan 10- It is rally after rally for Deputy President William Ruto, as he rushes against time to convince Kenyans that he is the most suitable candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
It is already clear the President will not be backing his candidature and instead has thrown his support to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
This could explain while DP Ruto has chosen to ‘sprint’ to State House, months to August 9 General elections.
On Monday, the Deputy President was cementing his support base in Bomet, one of his strongholds.
This comes days after he had a mega rally in his hometown Eldoret, where he was also blessed by elders.
In Bomet, the Deputy President while in the company of dozens of leaders rooted for his bottom-up economic model, saying it was the only way of ensuring all Kenyans are served equally.
Among the leaders who accompanied the Deputy President was Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.
The Deputy President expressed confidence in winning the presidential seat in August.
Both Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement leader have heightened their campaigns across the country as the race to State House take shape.
Opinion polls show it will be a neck-to-neck race between Ruto and Odinga.
