NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 11 – Kenyans across various parts of the country are without electricity following a major accident that has affected a major transmission site.
According to Kenya Power in statement, the power outage reported in various parts of the country is as a result of the collapse of a high voltage transmission tower.
“We have lost power supply due to collapsed towers on the Kiambere-Embakasi high voltage transmission power line at 10.45am, this morning,” read a part of the statement.
The country’s top electricity supplier says that its engineers are already on the ground in a bid to restore normalcy.
High voltage transmission lines deliver electricity over long distances.
“Our engineers are working to restore electricity supply as the repairs are being undertaken. An update on the restoration progress wil be issued in due course,”
Despite issuing an apology to Kenyans many took to social media to express their frustrations over what they described as an unreliable power supplier. Several businesses have been affected as a result of the outage.
On Monday, for a couple of hours in the evening various parts of the country had reported power outages.
