NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 17- Six Chinese nationals who were over the weekend arrested for working without a work permit in Nairobi’s Imara Daima estate are expected in court.
Police said the six were working at a local firm without work permits.
The six have been identified as:Cong Tingtng, Li Chang, Tili Zhuang, B Hong, Cun Long and Xie Liguang.
They are expected to be arraigned and charged with engaging in trade without being authorised by a work permit contrary to section 53 as read with section 53 (2) of the Kenya citizenship and immigration act No. 12 of 2011.
They were arrested following a tip-off from members of the public and intelligence from police officers.
They were arrested in Imara Daima area of Nairobi.
The team has cautioned employers that it is illegal for any foreigner to work in Kenya without a valid work permit.
Dozens of foreigners work in many firms in the country without the crucial documents with the immigration department conducting daily raids.
