KIRINYAGA, Kenya, Jan 18- Police in Kirinyaga County are investigating an incident where inmates transferred to Mwea GK Prison from Kamiti Maximum Prison set a prison dormitory on fire.
The incident happened at about 12 yesterday.
Firefighters from Kirinyaga County Government could not enter the prison gate because it is small.
As a result, the fire even spread further.
58 prisoners from Kamiti Maximum Prison had been taken to Mwea GK Prison after a previous protest.
Some of the inmates had refused to alight out of the vehicles ferrying them in a show of protest against the transfer.
No injury was reported in the incident.
