LAMU, Kenya, Jan 18- Police in Lamu have killed 15 suspected Al-Shabaab militants, in the ongoing security operation.
The suspects, sources within the security agencies in the area told Shahidi News, were killed in Boni forest, in a hideout.
There has been a wave of killings targeting civilians, most from other parts of the country.
At least more than 10 people have been killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in different parts of Lamu.
The Kenya Defence Forces have since joined the ongoing operation, in a bid to complement the efforts of the police.
Of those killed in the recent days, four were General Service Unit officers, whose vehicle was hit by an explosive.
Parts of the coastal County are on a dusk to dawn curfew, following the killings.
Preliminary reports had linked land disputes in the County as a trigger to the latest wave of insecurity.
