NAIROBI,Kenya, Feb, 1 – Drama ensued at the Milimani Law Courts after private detective Jane Mugo sought protection from the court claiming that persons working with her alleged kidnappers are plotting to kill her.
Appearing before chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, Mugo claimed that journalists covering the proceedings in court were relatives of her kidnappers who also allegedly tortured her November,24,2021.
She further claimed that the perpetrators are still at large.
A Teary Mugo told Shitubi that journalists were allegedly selling her pictures to the unknown assailants and as such, required to be protected while her kidnappers are pursued by police in order for justice to be served.
“Your honour relatives of my kidnappers are in this court and the journalists taking photos of me are the relatives of the said kidnappers “said a teary Jane Mugo.
Mugo who was presented in court in order to be charged afresh over allegations of threatening to kill Deepa Shah, shockingly pointed an accusing finger towards the detective probing the case saying that she had investigated him on corruption charges in the past.
“I was kidnapped because I investigated someone powerful on corruption and the police are after my life, they want to kill me” she said.
The proceedings temporarily came to a break in order to allow Mugo to calm down before before resuming.
The case finally resumed as the prosecution went through an amended charge sheet citing the firearm used by the accused against the victim.
The Magistrate ruled that there was no prejudice to the accused if prosecution is allowed to amend the charge sheet since only one witness has so far testified.
She is accused of using the firearm with the intent of committing a felony.
“Your are charged that on February 4 2019 at Kyuna close spring valley in Gigiri sub -county within Nairobi county being a firearm holder certificate number 2455 used your firearm CZ75 COMPACT CESKA pistol serial number C095957 and threatened to shoot Deepa Shah who was at their family home “read the charge sheet.
The first witness on the case is set to be recalled.
The matter will be heard on March, 8, 2022.
