NAIROBI,Kenya, Feb, 4 – Peter Kilonzo Titus was arraigned at the Milmani Law Courts and charged with assaulting a chapati vendor over Sh40.
Appearing before Nairobi chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, the accused is said to have committed the offence on January,23,2022 at Ngara Fig Tree stage in Nairobi.
According to court documents, the accused is said to have gone to the victim’s shop and ordered chapati and tea.
“The circumstances are that on the material date of 23rd January 2022 at around 0700hrs the complainant namely Lorna Nyaboke opened her food kiosk at Ngara Fig Tree stage and one customer namely Peter Kilonzo Titus who is a waiter at a nearby butchery came for breakfast and took a cup of tea and chapati amounting to Ksh 40” read a section of the police report.
The accused is later said to have told the vendors that he did not have money to pay for the breakfast further saying that he would conclude payment later that evening.
At around 7pm, she is said to have gone to collect her money from the accused at his work station,a butchery.
Titus is then said to have turn violent and proceeded to punch Nyaboke on the face. Police say she was on the ground bleeding having sustained injuries on he face and mouth.
The accused was shortly after restrained by members of the public and taken to the Ngara Police station.
He pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh 10 thousand cash bail or Sh20 thousand bond.
