NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 7- An employee of the Judiciary was used to sneak out a stolen television belonging to the Judiciary, a court was told on Monday.
The driver identified as Eric Manyange Ondieki is said to have been paid Sh2,500 to sneak out the television.
Ondieki is charged alongside two others- said to be cleaners at the Milimani Law Courts.
Others are Onsando Orina and Elikana Nyabuto.
The three are said to have conspired to, “commit a felony namely to steal a television set make TLC model 43P615 black in colour valued at Sh50,000 the property of the Judiciary.”
The two cleaners who were captured on CCTV stealing the said television are also facing two more counts of stealing and handling stolen good contrary to the law.
They are alleged to have committed the offence on January 22, 2022, at Milimani Law Courts Nairobi.
The television is said to have been recovered at Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Moto Moto area.
It had been sold to a third party.
“The suspects were arrested and led a team of DCI officers to Mukuru kwa Njenga slums where they alleged to have sold the same to one Solomon Nyabuto Ogembo,” police said.
The two cleaners pleaded guilty before Nairobi Chief Magistrate court while the driver denied the offence and was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000
The two cleaners will be sentenced on January 8, 2022, at the City Court.
