NAIROBI,Kenya, Feb, 9 – Two bodaboda operators,Bechkam Kamau and Andrew Mwangi were arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts and charged with robbery with violence.
Appearing before senior principal magistrate Esther Bhoke, the duo are said to have meted violence on Sylvester Isambwa on January 30, within Nairobi before stealing his mobile phone worth Sh11,499 and Sh2,600 in hard cash.
Police are meanwhile said to be pursuing another suspect.
According to preliminary reports, the victim is said to have been on a phone call when three bodaboda operators ambushed him before stealing his phone and money.
The victim is said to have initially pursued one of them who first stole his phone and as a scuffle ensued, the two others restrained him and stole his cash alongside personal documents.
Two off the riders were nabbed by members of the public while the third one managed to escape.
The accused denied the charges and were released on a Sh700,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will now be mentioned on February 22,2022.
