NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 26- Politician Raphael Tuju has resigned as the ruling Jubilee Party Secretary-General.
Tuju has been replaced by Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni.
Kioni will be deputized by Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny.
He made the announcement during the Jubilee’s national delegates conference event that was expected to endorse Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga as the Azimio movement presidential candidate.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will however remain as the Jubilee Party leader, even as his 10 years tenure comes to an end.
Deputy President William Ruto, who has since formed another party, will be replaced by Kitutu Chache Member of Parliament Jimmy Angwenyi.
“I urge Tuju to continue being a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC),” President Kenyatta urged the outgoing Secretary-General.
Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his KANU counterpart Gideon Moi were attending the event.
