NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar, 8 – Police in Nairobi are detaining two women who were arrested after they were caught ferrying a consignment of bhang destined for the country’s capital from Busia.
According to preliminary reports, the two, Caroline Mariwa and Nancy Wangare had attempted to conceal the bhang as mere goods before police quickly noticed that it bhang they were trafficking.
Attempts to intercept and arrest the two aboard a Toyota Wish vehicle proved futile with detectives from the Transnational & Organized Crimes forced to engage the two in a dramatic car chase.
The traffickers are said to have used the Nakuru-Nyahururu-Nyeri-Murang’a highway in a bid to escape police’s grip. They were however arrested at Saba Saba area.
Six sacks containing bhang have since been impounded in Nairobi amidst further investigations into the criminal network.
The two are expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
