NAIROBI,Kenya, Mar, 8 – Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to arrive in the country Tuesday evening ahead of a three-day State visit.
Mnangagwa who is being accompanied by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will Wednesday be received at Statehouse Nairobi by president Uhuru Kenyatta and first lady Margaret Kenyatta according to a statement by State House Spokesperson, Kanze Dena Mararo.
The head of state will be accorded an elaborate guard of honor and a 21-gun salute.
Details of the visit were not immediately revealed by State House though the presidents are expected to hold bilateral discussions on various topics including trade, tourism and security.
Kenyan ambassador to Zimbabwe Sheilla Muthoni Munyi had last year hinted at revitalized bilateral talks between the two countries during the handing over ceremony of her credentials to president Mnangagwa.
Kenya and Zimbabwe enjoy long historical ties.
Zimbabwe is said to have expressed its excitement after close to 1,700 stateless people of the Shona community received Kenyan citizenship last year.
Some members of the Shona community originated from Modern day Zimbabwe in Southern Africa.
