NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 25- Thousands of aspirants within Deputy President William Ruto led United Democratic Alliance will know whether they will fly the party’s flag ahead of the general elections on April 14, when the primaries will be conducted.

UDA National Elections Board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura has said the primaries will be for all elective positions starting with that of the Governor.

He has assured that the primaries shall be free and fair, to ensure the party attains the best candidate, to face off with other competitors.

The Deputy President, whose party is within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, has been leading a series of negotiations, to reduce sibling rivalry among aspirants.

Like in Kakamega County, the Deputy President brokered a deal that will see Dr. Boni Khalwale vies for the Senatorial seat while Cleophas Malala of the Amani National Congress will go for the gubernatorial position.

Similar negotiations are set to be held in Kiambu. Some five aspirants for the Governor’s position are in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

They include Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, Tujibebe Party leader William Kabogo, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Thika MP Patrick Wainaina Jungle and politician Ferdinard Waititu.
