MARSABIT,Kenya, Apr, 6 – investigations are ongoing days after a 70 year old man was shot dead by unknown assailants aboard a motorcycle in Marsabit town.
According to reports, Boru Guyo Huka was walking on Nyayo Road when he was attacked in broad daylight by the gunmen who sped off into the bush.
Police say that nothing was stolen from the deceased even as the motive of the attack remains unknown.
The incident comes just days after a similar attack was launched in the town. Tension remains high in parts of Marsabit county where several attacks have been launched in what is believed to be inter-clan related. Scores of people have meanwhile also lost their lives
On Tuesday, interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i said that the national government has used significant resources to conduct security operations in various parts of the country that continue to experience insecurity.
The areas include, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Samburu, Marsabit, Isiolo among others.
President Uhuru Kenyatta in February meanwhile met leaders from Marsabit county and urged them to resolve the insecurity failure to which a security operation will be launched in the area.
Residents however say that little has changed since the president pronounced himself on the matter.
