NAIROBI, Kenya, May, 6 – At least two police officers are being held in connection to a robbery with violence incident that involved an Egyptian national on Thursday.
Also in custody are two people alleged to be accomplices of the two officers.
It is reported that the two officers identified as Kennedy Otuma Riendo and Joseph Kioko Kakui all stationed at Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) Headquarters.
The two robbed Noaman Mosaad Abdelaziz of Sh1000, 500, and seven cartons of cooking sets valued at Sh140,000.
The Egyptian was nabbed by the two officers after leaving Apogee Warehouse Group where he had bought the items at around 10:40 am.
The seven cartons of the cooking ware valued at Sh140,000 were recovered in Mlolongo where Alex Mutero Wanjohi and Dennis Muindi Wambua were arrested.
The victim had called one Susan Makena, who had sold her the items informing her of his arrest.
Ms Makena told the police that she drove to the Industrial Area police station but did not find her customer only to be informed that they were at Imara Mall.
At Imara Mall, Ms Makena found her customer in presence of two police officers armed with an AK47 rifle.
They all boarded her vehicle and headed to Mlolongo Police Station but on the way, one officer pulled the hand break causing an accident.
The two officers immediately escaped from the scene of the accident but returned shortly now dressed in civilian clothing and without a firearm.
It was at the scene that the two police officers were identified by Ms Makena and the Egyptian leading to their arrest.
The four including the two police officers were charged with robbery with violence Friday.
