NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 1- President Uhuru Kenyatta has thanked his Cabinet and staff in State House, ahead of the Maradaka Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
This will be President Kenyatta’s last Madaraka Day in his capacity as the head of state.
“It will be my last Madaraka day…. we have worked hard together and I am confident that we have laid a firm foundation for those who will come in,” he said.
This will be Kenya’s 59th celebration after attaining independence in 1963.
A section of President Kenyatta’s Cabinet members led by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi hailed his tenure, saying he had delivered more than he promised.
At least 30,000 people are expected to attend the event.
