NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 8- A Court in Nairobi has released Dennis Karani Gachoki, the murder suspect in the Mirema Drive killing.
Samuel Mugo Muvota was shot dead during a daylight incident on May 11, that was captured on CCTV cameras.
Gachoki surrendered himself to police a few days after he was linked to the killing and was released after the prosecution told the court that there was no evidence linking him to the murder.
He had been held in police custody for two weeks pending the conclusion of investigations.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations had said claimed that the suspect was the driver of the car that drove away with the gunman who was seen shooting Muvota.
The DCI had claimed that Gachoki was the main suspect in the killing, allegations he denied.
Resident Magistrate Caroline Muthoni Njagi released Gachoki unconditionally after the prosecuting counsel told the court they had concluded investigations.
The man is however not yet out of the DCI radar.
The investigating officer has told the court that Gachoki was charged on Tuesday at Makadara law courts with the offence of dragging two businessmen and stealing from them Money amounting to Sh1.2M.
