NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun, 26 – The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to brace themselves for cold weather.
Kenyans in recent weeks have been complaining of flu-like symptoms with some attributing it to the cold weather.
Already several regions have been classified as those that will experience extreme cold conditions, with some set to register as low as four degrees Celsius.
The counties of Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Nyeri, and Kirinyaga are expected to experience low temperatures of below ten (10) degrees.
A report from MET revealed that parts of Central, the Rift Valley, and Lake Victoria will experience rain in the morning afternoon, and evening.
The country’s capital Nairobi will meanwhile record light rainfall.
“A few areas in the Highlands east of the Rift Valley and along the coast will be forecast with rainfall. The remainder of the country will most likely be dry,” said MET further noting, “Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 19 – 29 degrees C.”
Several Kenyans have complained of respiratory diseases like flu, pneumonia, common cold, and asthma in recent weeks.
