    Police Probe Murder Of Woman By Husband And Son In Vihiga

    VIHIGA, Kenya, Jul, 17 – Police have launched investigations after the body of a 65-year-old woman was found dumped in a gold pit in Muhudu location Hamisi Constituency, Vihiga county.

    Her body was discovered dumped in the 12-foot pit on Friday amid widespread shock.

    According to preliminary reports, It is alleged, that 67-year-old man Rueben Shumba and his son Caleb Shumba aged  35, killed the deceased before dumping her body in the gold pit.

    Area assistant chief Wilface Pali confirmed the incident.

    “Her body was found in the pit after being dumped by her son. It is believed that there was an argument between her and her husband..her husband had gone to work and was paid what he thought was little money,”

    “His wife asked for money for food…and that is where the altercation began. They were fighting and shortly after the son was notified of what happened and then went home and started assaulting his mother. It is also believed the husband took part in the beating and ultimate killing,” said Area assistant chief Wilface Pali

    After realizing what they had done, they took the body and dumped it in the gold mine.

    Residents notified the area chief who in turn n notified police as a manhunt saw the two arrested.

    “They are being interrogated and will aid police with investigations,” said the area assistant chief.

    The body of the deceased is being preserved at the Mbale mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
