NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul, 21 – Despite claiming to have booked the Nyayo National Stadium way early for the purpose of being occupied on August 6, for what would be their final rally before the national polls, the United Democratic Alliance -Kenya Kwanza Coalition is now crying foul after Sports Kenya in a communique said that the venue has already been booked by Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance.
The letter was addressed to UDA party secretary general Veronica Maina, and copied to among others, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and Principal Secretary Joe Okudo.
“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sport Center- Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between August 5 to 7, 2022. The facility will not be available for their use,” the letter read in part.
The party however provided a receipt claiming to have booked the stadium challenging their opponents to do the same.
“We have booked and are preparing for our last major rally on August 6, at Nyayo Stadium. This venue was booked on July 9, we signed a contract with the authority responsible for the stadium on July 12, and also received receipt of the payment on the same day. When we did this, no other political party had booked the grounds,” said Nanok.
Azimio La Umoja’s Junet Mohammed had earlier this week said that his team was set to hold a rally a the stadium while thanking Kenyans for their support across the country.
Kenya Kwanza has said they are willing to go to court to resolve the matter.
