NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul, 21 – Michael Juma Oyamo, the former aide of Migori governor Zachary Okoth Obado is said to have been in a relationship with slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

The court was Thursday informed as proceedings into her murder case resumed.

Oyamo is meanwhile alleged to have been involved in an argument with the deceased prior to her death according to witnesses.

Appearing before Justice Cecilia Githua, the accused is said to have told police that he impregnated the deceased who in turn demanded Sh600,000 to furnish her house alongside a Sh240,000 for her monthly upkeep.

Police constable Howard Omwoha, who is a Prosecution witness, told the court that Oyamo claimed responsibility for the pregnancy while issuing his statement at Uriri police station on September 4, 2018, while confessing to being in a relationship wit her.

This came just a day after she was reportedly kidnapped and killed.

“Mr Oyamo volunteered the information before being arrested for the alleged kidnapping and murder of the Rongo university student,” said Omwoha.

Further, he had while reporting the incident also claimed to have been kidnapped in Rongo town before being dumped in Kisii town.

He identified himself as the personal assistant to governor Obado.

He was allegedly picked up by unknown assailants at Graca Hotel in Rongo town on September 3, 2018, where he was set to meet MS Otieno in a bid to resolve the differences.

While at the hotel, Oyamo is said to have found Otieno with another man, now a protected witness of the state having drinks.

He shorty after claimed to have been uncomfortable with the location before later moving the meeting toTreat House hotel.

“Before leaving Mr Oyamo gave Sharon Sh100,000 to clear the bill of the drinks they had taken, narrated the officer,” the court was informed.

“Mr Oyamo started by telling me that on the previous night –September 3, 2018-  at around 8.00 pm he was abducted by three men who went with him and he found himself in Kisii town the following day- September 4. Since it was a serious matter I sought to know how it happened,” said Mr Omwoha.

Migori governor Obado, his aide Oyamo and county government clerk Casper Obiero are charged with the murder of the former Rongo university student and her unborn child.
