NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul, 27 – A certificate upgrading programme for Primary Teacher Education (PTE) and Early Childhood Teacher Education (ECDE) tutors has been launched by the government with Basic Education PS Dr. Jwan saying that teachers seeking admission to ht Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) should apply for the programme.
It is for teachers seeking to upgrade from a Certificate in ECDE and PTE to Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) and Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
“This upgrading programme is for trained teachers in the said categories who are yet to be employed by Teachers Service Commission, County Government or private sector,” said Jwan, in a notice.
This programme is expected to kick off next year in April.
Teachers have been advised to submit their application forms to the sub county director of education office between July 28 and August 18, 2022, in person.
To ease verification, they have also been urged to provide certificates and testimonials.
In order to be successful for the upgrade, teachers are required to have a valid ECDE certificate, not a provisional one and must have been obtained from a recognized institution.
The course will be fully residential and will last for five terms, four for tuition and one to practice, with the trainees expected to take all courses specified in the upgrading programme of DECTE.
