NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 9 – Voting kicked off at 6 am in Kenya on Tuesday morning, in an exercise expected to end at 5 pm.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said some 22.1 million registered voters are expected to participate in the exercise.
There are at least 6 elective positions, including that of President.
The polling stations opened amidst heightened security across all parts of the country.
Tens of armed police officers were deployed in all the 46,229 polling stations, spread across the country.
