NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug, 9 – Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya Alliance Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga cast his vote at the Old Kibra Primary school in Nairobi county expressing confidence in this year’s election that has witnessed a competitive election cycle.
Odinga left his Karen residence accompanied by a fleet of vehicles as they snaked their way to Kibra.
Thousands of his supporters chanted his name as they escorted him to the polling station.
Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua had earlier cast her vote at her Gichugu backyard in Kirinyaga county.
Before leaving his Karen residence Odinga expressed confidence in a win urging his supporters to turn out in huge numbers and vote.
“The ball is on the people’s court and I have confidence that the people of Kenya are going to speak loudly in favour of the democratic change,” said Odinga.
He also expressed concerns over delays in the voting process in some areas across the country.
“Some stations opened late, others the process is too slow, I do not know why this is happening…Just as we suspected some people’s names could not be identified biometrical and they had to revert to the manual l register. That is what we had said all along, unfortunately, those who were opposing it were not able to be identified, ”
“I am excited because this exercise comes once every five years. All Kenyans are excited….and I know the results will be different,” said Ida Odinga.
