NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 10- More leaders continued to concede defeat on Wednesday, after the August 9 general elections.
As results trickled in, more leaders who vied for various positions accepted the provincial results and proceeded to wish well their rivals.
Machakos Town Member of Parliament Victor Munyaka is among those who have conceded defeat and congratulated his competitor Caleb Mule of Maendeleo Chap Chap.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate Caleb Mule for winning the Machakos Constituency seat,” he said.
Munyaka was vying on a United Democratic Alliance ticket. Both parties are in the William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Langata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir has also conceded defeat and congratulated his competitor ODM’s Felix Oduor Alias Jalang’o.
Korir, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament vied on a UDA ticket.
“From the results that we have tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalang’o has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward,” Korir said in a post on social media platforms.
Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya has since conceded defeat.
He was the National Assembly leader of the Majority leader under the Jubilee Party.
“In a democracy, the will of the people prevails, and therefore I will respect their choices. We extend our congratulations to the winners,” stated Kimunya.
Kiambu gubernatorial candidate Moses Kuria also conceded defeat, even as tallying of votes continued.
