TRANS NZOIA, Kenya, Aug, 11 – Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembya has clinched the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat after defeating his closest opponent, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa.

Natembeya was contesting the seat on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party ticket while Wamalwa was running on a FORD-Kenya party ticket.

Wamalwa on his Twitter page conceded defeat and congratulated Natembeya on his victory.

“The Elections are now over & the results are out. I have not been successful in my quest to be the second Governor of our great County. I thank the Almighty God, and all my supporters, from both far and near, for their unyielding support. Receive my eternal gratitude,” said Wamalwa.

2 I thank the people of Kimini for giving me the opportunity to be their MP for two terms. I thank my Party- Ford Kenya for it's support. My heartfelt gratitude to the party supporters and volunteers who have worked so hard in this campaign

    — Hon. (Dr.) Chris Wamalwa, CBS (@HonChrisWamalwa) August 11, 2022

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is however yet to make an official announcement on the winner of the political contest.
