SIAYA, Kenya, Aug, 12 – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM’s) Senior Counsel James Aggrey Orengo has won the Siaya gubernatorial seat defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Gumbo of the United Democratic Movement Party (UDM) in the hotly contested polls.
Also seeking to win the gubernatorial seat was United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Millicent Adhiambo Oduor.
Orengo garnered 220,349 votes while former Raireda MP Nicholas Gumbo secured 147,558 votes.
In the Senatorial contest, ODM’s Oburu Odinga and East Africa legislative Assembly Mp trounced his opponents garnering 285,595 votes.
His closest opponent Julius Okinda got 33,898 votes.
The ODM wave appeared to sweep through the county which is Raila Odinga’s backyard as Christine Ombaka was announced as the Siaya Woman Representative-elect after garnering 207,748 votes.
