NAKURU, Kenya, Aug, 12 – The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate Tabitha Karanja as the Nakuru senator-elect.
The Keroche CEO secured 442,864 votes.
She will represent the county in the Senate after outgoing senator Susan Kihika was elected governor.
Coming in second in the contest was Jubilee Party’s Lawrence Karanja who garnered 163,625 votes.
“I owe the Nakuru people my service since they have elected me. I promise that I will work for you and thank you for trusting me. I will not let you down. I will represent all Nakuru people and their interests at the national level through the senate.” she said.
Karanja has been on the wrong side of the law after her breweries in Nakuru was shut down over tax arrears.
