NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug, 14 – Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga made his first public address since the August 9 polls.
Odinga while attending a church service at the ACK St. Francis Church in Karen on Sunday called on Kenyans to exercise patience and perch peace before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announce the results of the presidential elections.
“We thank God for having taken us through a vigorous campaign moment,” Raila said “The election process was peaceful, we hope that peace will prevail even after the election,” said Odinga.
In his message of peace Odinga further said that Kenya would become stronger as citizens move forward together.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith, that is what St.Francis of Assisi said at that time. This is what I as a person want to see happen, that I become an instrument to bring peace, to heal to unite and keep the hope alive,” he said.
Odinga is currently involved in a neck and neck race with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate William Ruto for the country’s top seat.
“We in the Azimio La Umoja said we want to take our people across River Jordan, to Canaan, we hope we will be able to enjoy life in Canaan. Peace & prosperity can only be found in Canaan,”
The IEBC is expected to make the final announcement on the winner of the presidential contest once the verification of the election results is complete.
