NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug, 14 – Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Muthoni Passaris emerged victorious retaining her seat after beating United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Millicent Omanga.

In the poll results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Passaris, who ran on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, garnered 698,929 votes while Omanga, came in second with a total of 586,246 votes.

Passaris thanked the people of Nairobi for re-electing her and her party for supporting her during this rigorous campaign season.

“I want to thank everyone in my Azimio team and all the voters in Nairobi. We will work tirelessly to serve all of you. When we get into office we will only care on delivering the promises we made and we are guided by the manifesto of the Azimio family,” she said.

She further called on Kenyans to promote peace as the country awaits the announcement of the presidential election results.

“We are grateful to all of you for maintaining the peace during the election period and we pray that the same peace will be maintained even after the president is announced.”

Meanwhile, Omanga conceded defeat and congratulated her opponent.

“I want to thank the people of Nairobi who voted for me & those who didn’t. I accept the results even though they’re not in my favour. Esther Passaris has won, she deserves our support & prayers as she steers the office of Woman Rep for the next 5 years. May God bless our country,” she said.
