MIGORI, Kenya, Aug, 26 – Migori Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has said that his new administration will prioritize the digitization of revenue collection.
Speaking during his swearing-in ceremony as the second Governor of Migori County by Justice Kiarie Waweru Kiarie, Dr. Ayacko said that his administration will focus more on revenue collection to increase county finances, fight graft and improve service delivery to Migori residents.
“My administration will digitize revenue collection to ensure that no cash is lost in graft and at the same time streamline the department of revenue collection to boost its workforce,” said Ayacho.
He also said that value addition in agriculture, clean piped water, and the creation of employment for both youth and women will be given priority.
Ayacko added that he will also champion inclusivity and unity among Migori residents to ensure residents coexist peacefully. He said his new administration will serve the public with utmost respect and offer quality services.
Other areas that the new governor said would be prioritized include strengthening the Migori Workers’ Sacco and implementing the Migori Master Plan policy.
Ayacko emphasised that he will set proper working mechanisms to streamline every sector in order to realize efficiency in various departments for the betterment of public service delivery.
Deputy Governor Dr. Joseph Mahiri noted that he will fully support Governor Ayako to ensure that their manifesto is implemented for the betterment of Migori residents adding the new administration will accommodate everyone.
The outgoing Governor Mr. Zachary Okoth Obado urged Members of the County Assembly to support his successor to deliver on his mandate.
During the reign of Governor Zachary Obado the county had proposed a cashless revenue collection programme that is yet to be implemented.
The occasion was attended by among others the Principal Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy Dr. Francis Owino, Migori County Commissioner Mr. Meru Mwangi and elected local leaders.
