NAKURU, Kenya, Aug, 30 – The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Paul “Mamba” Chebor as the winner of the Rongai parliamentary seat after defeating KANU’s Raymond Kipruto Moi.
In the results announced by the poll body, Chebor garnered 27,021 votes while Moi got 14,725.
Also in the race was Luka Kigen of Chama Cha Mashinani who garnered 593 votes.
The constituency has 84,625 registered voters.
“I thank the people of Rongai for believing in me. I promise to deliver and I will not let them down. I promise to work with all the residents irrespective of whether they voted for me or not,” said Chebor.
Observers termed the win a major boost to UDA party leader William Ruto as he cemented his grip in the Rift Valley.
